LWML SD DISTRICT MISSION SERVICE

October 27–November 4, 2023

Do you Like adventure? Do you Like to travel? Mission Opportunities Short Term (MOST Ministries) is offering a trip to Guatemala/Water Outreach* October 27–November 4, 2023.

And I heard the voice of the Lord saying, “Whom shall I send, and who will go for us?” Then I said, “Here I am! Send me.” (Isaiah 6:8)

Who joins mission teams? Ages 14 to 99 are welcome to be part of a team. Twelve-year olds need a parent to travel with them.

As a team member you are

Witnessing God’s love for the world first-hand.
Strengthening dependence on God.
Awakening and exercising spiritual gifts.
Opening doors for future short term and other career missions.
Returning home to be actively involved in the overall life of the church.
Becoming strong supporters of world mission causes.
Growing and learning to be the most effective senders of others.

*Water outreach means assembling a water purification system, health and hygiene education, and evangelism.

LWML South Dakota District Mission Trips

April 2, 2022

The LWML South Dakota District sponsored a mission day at Orphan Grain Train’s South Dakota Collection Center in Milbank April 2, 2022. About 80 volunteers had a very fun day as they worked together to pack 21,600 Mercy Meals! Other projects included making diapers out of t-shirts, making mission bracelets, cutting plastic bags to make into mats, sorting clothes, cutting and tying fleece blankets, and sewing buttons onto shirts.

The LWML ladies at Emanuel Lutheran Church welcomed the volunteers with muffins and coffee in the morning. A video about Orphan Grain Train (OGT) helped everyone learn about its mission. The church also sponsored a noon meal so people could rest and have time for fellowship. It was a wonderful opportunity for working for the Lord. LWML SD is thankful for the volunteers at OGT and at Emanuel Lutheran Church.

May 31–June 1, 2019

A short Mission Trip to the Orphan Grain Train Warehouse in Norfolk, NE was held May 31–June 1, 2019. A tour of the facility was enjoyed by all prior to sorting and boxing items including bedding, clothing, shoes, school supplies, etc.
